The UAE Pet Parents Consumer Habits Survey was conducted in April 2026, capturing responses from 309+ pet owners across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.
The findings highlight a community that is emotionally invested, digitally engaged, and willing to spend, yet still seeking better access to trusted information, affordable services, and meaningful brand experiences:
68% of pet parents adopted or rescued their pets, reinforcing a values-driven, care-first mindset
43% spend AED 200–500 monthly, while 28%+ spend above AED 500, indicating strong and consistent purchasing power
83% are interested in discount coupons for pet-related products and services
90% are open to subscribing to newsletters for offers and updates
Top spending categories include:
Pet food (88%)
Grooming (57%)
Veterinary services (56%)
Additionally, 54% prefer shopping online, followed by pet shops (27%), while quality (68%) remains the top factor when choosing pet food, far outweighing vet recommendations, brand, and price.
The UAE’s pet ownership landscape has undergone a quiet transformation. Cats and dogs dominate, owned by 65% and 42% of respondents respectively; however, the community also includes birds, fish, horses, rabbits, and exotic animals. What unites these pet parents is a shared set of frustrations: high veterinary costs, a shortage of pet-friendly public spaces, and a lack of reliable information.
